International Students

Your Finest Medical Aid for Study Permit.

To register at a South African academic institution, it is compulsory to obtain a study permit VISA for the duration of your studies and this medical aid qualifies you for an International Study Visa and is recognised by Home Affairs for education visa needs!

South African study visa requirements

International students must have approved healthcare cover from a South African medical scheme for the term of their studies
This is condition from the Visa Regulations in South Africa. Immigration Act (Act No. 13 0f 2002).

Institutions Minimum Period of Cover

Home Affairs South Africa published Immigration Directive No. 05 of 2023 in April 2023, confirming that a radiology report and chest x-ray is no longer a study VISA requirement.
However, the medical report is still a requirement.

Study visa application and information

A Study Visa is required for foreigners who wish to study in South African.
It will allow international students to study at recognised institutions, including primary, secondary, and tertiary schools.
This visa also allows international students to work part-time for up to 20 hours per week during the academic term, offering valuable work experience.

Please note: Your medical cover does not begin upon your arrival in South Africa.
The start date is based on the study visa term and this is shown on the letter of membership confirmation.

If your study plans change, you must advise the scheme of the change, 1-month before the start date.
Otherwise, membership termination, or a change in the start date, cannot be backdated.
