A health insurance policy designed to fund those high cost, private dentistry bills.
The plan pays out stated amounts for a comprehensive range of day-to-day, emergency, accidental and illness related dentistry treatments.There are no waiting periods for Emergency and the Accident Benefits.
There are 2 plans to consider:
- Superior Dental Cover - funding for a comprehensive range of dentistry treatment costs. High cover amounts are provided to fund in part or whole, the actual costs of general, emergency, accidental, illness related and specialised dental treatment.
- Smart Cover - more affordable funding for frequently incurred dentistry treatment costs. This option pays lower claim amounts to fund in part or in whole, the actual costs of general, emergency, accidental and illness related dental treatment costs.
There are waiting periods, BUT not with an Emergency or Accident Treatments!
The stated benefit amounts are the total benefit to cover the costs relating to the diagnosis, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy.
There is NO maxim age - any age can join!
This insurance policy can:
- act as a "gap" cover for dentistry so you can avoid using all your precious day-to-day savings to cover dental procedures,
- be used to pay any dental benefit shortfall by your medical aid, so you are never out of pocket again!
- be used with any dentist you want, because claims are paid directly to you.
- Pay for dental implants!
Dental Cover is not a medical aid and the cover is not the same as that of a medical aid. This policy is not a substitute for medical aid membership.
If you have no medical aid this plan will assist you meet the high costs of both normal and specialised dentistry.
You do not need a medical aid to join this plan!
There is NO benefit for orthodontic treatment like braces, but certainly many benefits for other expensive dental treatments!

A pre-existing condition waiting period exists, where you will not be entitled to claim a benefit in respect of a medical condition for which, in the 12 months preceding the start date of your policy medical advice, diagnosis, care or treatment was received or would reasonably have been recommended.
